The Friends of the Bolton Public Library was founded in 1994 to raise funds that enhance library programming and collections. The group holds an annual membership drive and a semiannual book sale.
$1 million in contributions to the Friends helped to build the renovated, expanded library. The Friends fund our First Thursdays lecture series, museum passes, childrens’ programs, Mango Languages, and much more. The Friends also sponsor Wowbrary, our weekly e-mail newsletter.
The Friends are taking book donations! They accept gently used hardcovers and paperbacks (all reading levels), DVDs, and CDs. VHS and cassette tapes, magazines, damaged or outdated items, encyclopedias, and textbooks are not collected.
Small quantities (1-2 bags or boxes; please, no loose items!) of donations can be dropped off at the library during open hours (please, no donations in the book drop or left outside!). For larger quantities (more than 2 bags/boxes), please contact the Friends of the Library and make alternate arrangements, or plan to come to the Houghton Building on a designated dropoff date.
The next book sale will be held in conjunction with the townwide yard sale, on Saturday, May 4. In addition, there is always a selection of books for sale at the Library itself.
The Friends of the Bolton Library will hold their semi-annual Used Book Sale at 697 Main Street in Bolton (The Houghton Building). The preview sale for the Friends of the Library will be on May 3rd, from 6:30 – 8 pm. The public sale will be held on May 4th, from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. We have a wide variety of paperback and hardcover books, perfect to stock up for your summer reading. Pricing: Paperbacks – $1.00, Hardcover books – $2.00, specialty pricing on some children’s books and paperbacks.
We will also take book donations at our Houghton Building location on Saturday, April 20th and Saturday, April 27th from 9:00 – 11:00 am, or contact Corrin Crowley (firstname.lastname@example.org) to arrange for a donation drop off. Please note that we cannot accept damaged books or old text books.
